SUO Challenge #41 - Easy Events Card Box and Cards

Happy Thursday!
Well... I had hoped to have a video to share with you today. However... my three year old has had a fever over 103 for the past two days. Today he is all better...YEAH!!!... but he's still home with me. He has decided to exert all the energy he missed out on the past two days TODAY. So... no video. BUT... there WILL be one tomorrow. If nothing else I will at least be doing the giveaway that I've been talking about.

I do have a project for you though. I worked on it here and there while James slept. I hope you enjoy it.
My inspiration came from the SUO Challenge of the week. It was "Think Spring". I decided to make a small card box with some 3x3 cards. This is the first time I entered a challenge for SUO. My entry is for the front of the box.

The cards measure 3x3. I used my Stampin Up Simply Scored to make matching envelopes and I used the Simply Scored and the Diagonal Plate to make the box. Maybe I can do a video tomorrow on how I made the box and the envelopes :)

Also... I check out all these blogs and I love the way they photograph their pictures. I'm not so great and I'm experimenting. I made my own little photo box today but it needs some tweaking. I had seen a YouTube video on how to make it but I can't find the video now so I kind of made it up from memory and I know it's horribly wrong. But it is how I took my photos today. I would love your ideas and comments about how YOU take your photos of your projects.

And I always love how someone takes a "sneak peak" preview of a card or just highlights part of it. My cards today are pretty simple but I wanted to at least take one picture like that, just to see if I could. Again... still working on that. But here's my pic. Tell me what you think.

It lacks that "wow" factor but I'm not sure how to get it. Somebody want to help me out?

Heres my supply list:

  2. This is such a lovely little thank you gift I'm sure anyone would be pleased to receive. It doesn't lack wow!

I like the way other bloggers have the sneak preview, too. As for the photography, the biggest thing (I think) is proper lighting. Sometimes my photos are just too dark, or yellow looking. So, the more lighting you can get, the better!

I'm so glad you decided to join us at SUO Challenges this week! Hope you become a "regular"!

  3. This really is a fantastic project! Such a fun and happy set! I agree with Cindy that it takes lots of light and practice (neither of which I seem to have). I sometimes just edit a good "full" shot and crop it down for a sneak peek. Ann Schach is the queen of a good sneak peek and she is very generous with help! So glad you joined us at SUO Challenges and I look forward to more of your work!
